ORM Workshop Outline

ORM believes that reconciliation is a move of God and embraces the legacy of Dr. King “that one day, all men will be treated equal...”

The Apostle Paul wrote that there are no Jews and no Greeks to mean that we are free as brothers and sisters of Christ. Therefore, in God’s eyes all men and women are free no matter what their ethnicity, color or creed. He calls us His children. He sent his Son, Jesus Christ to reconcile all of us to Him. Thus, Jesus is the head of reconciliation. It’s all about Him. He died to make it possible for the broken creation to be reconciled to Him and the Father (Colossians 1:19-22). (Ephesians 2:14-18 — already reconciled.)

ORM is a ministry that seeks to be used as an instrument to help fulfill the will of God “that they may be one as we are one” (John 17:21). ORM is an international ministry, with 24 chapters in 5 major countries: U.S., Canada, England, Ireland and South Africa.

As Christians we have been given the ministry and gospel of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:16-21). We feel a burden and a special call to help fulfill this ministry. We feel a need to help stand in the gap with others who feel this burden and call (Ezekiel 22:30). This ministry, as most ministries, began in response to a need. We answered a request for assistance in resolving conflict within churches. We began in January 1996. As expressed by the address of our website, ATimeToReconcile.org, we believe that the time to reconcile is NOW!

As we look at the world we are heartbroken over the divisions and walls that we see. And far too often those walls even exist within the church. We see the need for repentance now, “for the kingdom is at hand”
(Matthew 3:1-2).

Our Mission Statement

To share the good news that God has reconciled all mankind to Himself through Christ and that we can all get along.

Our Goals

  • To model and teach reconciliation and address all areas where walls, barriers and division exist.
  • To increase awareness and sensitivity in the area of race relations.
  • To help strenghen relationships among people of different ethnic groups.
  • To encourage greater appreciation of ethnic, gender and cultural diversity.
  • To aid in avoiding polarization along racial lines, expecially during

Colossians 1:19-20
For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,
and through him God reconciled everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth
by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Reconciliation, whatever the context, is at the heart of the gospel. This seminar will help in understanding and dealing with the many complex relational issues we face.
