January
2008
Dear Reconciler Family,
As my 2008
calendar begins to fill up, I feel moved to review
our ORM Mission Statement and update it to reflect
more clearly our new understanding of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit’s relationship, not only to each
other but to us as well.
It’s very exciting and encouraging
to realize that all of mankind is reconciled to God
through Christ. And that the ministry of reconciliation
emanates from that relationship (2 Corinthians 5:16-21).
That relationship is described in the Greek language
by the word pericoresis which
means to dance around. Peri means
around and coresis means
dance. So as we dance through the year 2008, let’s
feel the excitement of the great Triune dance as
we keep in step and time with the heavenly beat.
Because, as I see it, our job is to set the example
by living the reconciled life and to help others
to understand and accept the fact that they too have
been reconciled through Jesus’ death (Romans 5:10-11)
and that they don’t have to have an alienated heart
and mind.
In seeking to keep in step and
time in the great dance, our updated mission statement
now is: “To share the good news that God has reconciled
all mankind to Himself through Christ and that we
can all get along.” Our Vision is: “Love and appreciation
for all people. To embrace and cherish diversity.”
Please look on the ORM website, ATimeToReconcile.org,
for the complete Mission Statement and Core Values.
This month we step into our 13th year!
So I thought it might be encouraging to highlight
some of the validating awards and certificates we
have received over the last few years:
- 2002—The Key to the City of Memphis
- 2003—A Proclamation on Race Relations from the
Mayor of Lufkin, Texas
- 2005—A Certificate of Appreciation from Los Angeles
County Supervisor Mike Antonavich
- 2006—The Harry Sheldon Humanitarian Award from
the Pasadena Human Relations Commission
We have received a number of other
certificates, letters and encouraging comments over
the years. To God be the glory! Thank you for your
loyal support and prayers over the years. We need
it as we enter a new exciting year.
Love
in Christ,
Curtis
